About Mobile Networks

Mobile Networks, which includes mobile network products, network deployment and technical support services, and related network management. This business group will offer the full portfolio for customers wanting to buy mobile access networks. It target leadership in key technologies such as 5G, ORAN and vRAN.

Job Description:

We're looking for a SW development engineer and SW test engineer to strengthen our team of 100 highly experienced mobile network R&D people in Espoo. Our team is developing and maintaining SW for Nokia 5G base station control plane area.

5G Control plane is responsible for controlling and maintaining UEs (User Equipment) connection to Radio Network. That covers call setup, mobility (handover control inside 5G and between 5G and LTE radio networks) and call release by handling signaling towards UE and Core networks. As part of that, Control Plane is also responsible for configuring 5G base station lower layers triggered by O&M.

As a part of our team, your trainee responsibility area would be SW Development and SW testing of new features and functionalities in 5G control plane area with significant contribution and visibility to end to end feature development with target of enabling new functionalities for Nokia Mobile Network’s end users and operators. Based on your area of interest, you can focus more either SW development or SW testing area.

 

OPTION 1: SW development engineer:

Responsibility area opportunities for SW development trainee position

  • Design, implementation and testing of new functionalities as per customer and internal requirements
  • Maintenance and customer support activities by troubleshooting, investigating and correcting of SW problems.       

Requirements:

  • Ongoing or completed studies for University/polytechnical degree in Telecommunications, Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering or equivalent area
  • Strong interest towards Telecommunication area, Radio networks and 5G technology
  • Language skills in English (written and spoken fluently).

Following skills are seen helpful and later preferred prior to complete your graduation:

  • Basics for C++ object-oriented programming and agile SW development methods
  • Understanding for SW specification and architecture design
  • UNIX or/and Linux area
  • TTCN and GIT/Gerrit experience.

Personal Attributes:

  • Real passion for SW specification, design, implementation and testing
  • Willingness for continuous learning and participation in all areas of SW development work
  • Readiness to seek and understand the end to end product functionality and customer view
  • Positive mind set and approach, out-of-the box thinking
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills, including good communication and presentation skills
  • Quality mindset and strong drive for customer service
  • Analytical thinking, creativity in complex problem solving.

OPTION 2: SW testing engineer

Responsibility area opportunities for SW testing trainee position

  • Test design and testing of new features as per customer and internal requirements
  • Developing and maintaining automated test scripts
  • Test environment development
  • Investigate and troubleshoot problems.

 Requirements:

  • Ongoing or completed studies for University/polytechnical degree in Telecommunications, Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering or equivalent area
  • Strong interest towards Telecommunication area, Radio networks and 5G technology
  • Language skills in English (written and spoken fluently).

Following skills are seen helpful and later preferred prior to complete your graduation:

  • Basics for C++ object-oriented programming and agile SW development methods
  • Scripting skills with Python and/or Robot framework
  • Understanding for SW specification and architecture design
  • UNIX or/and Linux area
  • TTCN and GIT/Gerrit experience.
