Come create the technology that helps the world act together

Nokia is committed to innovation and technology leadership across mobile, fixed and cloud networks. Your career here will have a positive impact on people’s lives and will help us build the capabilities needed for a more productive, sustainable, and inclusive world.

We challenge ourselves to create an inclusive way of working where we are open to new ideas, empowered to take risks and fearless to bring our authentic selves to work.

The team you'll be part of

Our Business Group is a leader in wireless mobility networks and associated services. With more than 3.500 patent families essential for 5G we have a strong 5G portfolio and are a front runner in open and virtualized radio access networks (O-RAN and vRAN).

Our highly innovative L1 Architecture & Specification (A&S) team is actively creating new features and feasibility studies for 4G, 5G, and even 6G. Your location would be in Espoo headquarters, but many of your colleagues are all over the world. In this team, you really get to experience diversity in both people and ideas, and our state-of-the-art tools. We offer flexible possibilities, so remote working is very much doable.

What you will learn and contribute to

We are looking for a system simulation engineer to strengthen our L1 Architecture and Specification team. Your tasks will include analysis, definition, optimization, and verification of Physical Layer algorithms. We work closely with Nokia 3GPP specification teams and Nokia Bell Labs to conduct innovative concepts towards implementation and create next generation mobile network equipment systems.

We are looking for a candidate with solid experience in defining signal processing algorithms to achieve great class performance with optimized target hardware utilization.

Your skills and experience

You are proactive and independent. You have great communication skills that allow you to feel comfortable in a team and to motivate colleagues. Our language at work is English, so you are fluent enough. You enjoy learning on the job.

Additionally, you share our values that build our company culture.

Guiding qualifications:
•    Industrial or wide research experience (preferred at least 3 years) in commercial quality signal processing algorithm design, optimization, and verification, particularly in the signal reception area
•    Master or PhD of Science degree in signal processing, communications, or computer science.
•    Solid skills in MATLAB and Python

We also appreciate the following:
•    Knowledge of data-analysis and machine learning techniques
•    Knowledge of 5G and/or 4G Physical Layer algorithms as well as related 3GPP documentation, processes, and forums.
•    Knowledge of algorithm optimization for DSP and/or HW accelerators.
•    Familiarity with Agile concepts and principles

Don’t worry about ticking every single one of the boxes – if you can picture yourself in this position, it is a good enough reason to apply. We are here to support you all the way.

What we offer

Nokia offers flexible and hybrid working schemes, continuous learning opportunities, well-being programs to support you mentally and physically, opportunities to join and get supported by employee resource groups, mentoring programs and highly diverse teams with an inclusive culture where people thrive and are empowered.

At our headquarters in Espoo, we offer benefits with wellbeing on our mind.
•    We have spaces and communities for socializing, hobbies, and exercise.
•    Our campus restaurant is at the heart of everything for you to have refreshing moments with colleagues.
•    Plenty of networking where you get to meet other world-class professionals and people with shared interests.
•    100+ hours yearly for personal development and education
