Job Description

 

The Service Owner for Power BI will own the entire Power BI lifecycle in End User Workplace organization. He/She is an instrumental in the development of service strategy, governance, responsible for its content, budget, negotiations with partners and vendors as well as for continuous improvement and the management of change affecting the service. He/She will work closely with other IT Service Owners, Architects, License Managers, 3rd party service providers and End Users.

 

He/She has an extensive Power BI background and will be able to apply his/her knowledge in a dynamic environment, supporting end-to-end service delivery.

 

He/She will be responsible to follow technological changes and trends, and ensures all services remain stable.

  

Job Responsibilities & Competencies

  • Represents the service across the organization
  • Manages the risk of operating the service
  • Designates technical lead and backup
  • Coordinates communication among support staff, systems staff, and end users
  • Provides input to service attributes such as performance, availability, security, etc.)
  • Understands the service (components, technology, etc.)
  • Understands how Power BI reports and dashboards are created and provides basic support to end users
  • Understands and supports end user on their Power BI requirements
  • Manages the Power BI environments optimizing their capacity usage
  • Monitors the license consumption and optimize its usage
  • Plans additional license purchases based on the actual consumption and trend
  • Serves as the point of escalation (notification) for major incidents
  • Ensures that any changes to the service under their care follows the current change management work practice
  • Provides input to the Continual Service Improvement process (CSI)
  • Plans for service future
  • Participates in internal service review meetings (within IT)
  • Identify and prioritize service improvements
  • Participates in external service review meetings (with the business)
  • Is responsible for ensuring that the service entry in the Service Portfolio/Catalog is accurate and is maintained
  • Participates in negotiating Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operational Level Agreements (OLAs) for the service
  • Ensures performance meets the requirements of SLAs and OLAs
  • Provides reporting and metrics on performance of service
  • Ensures service governance is updated and followed
  • Monitors the tickets raised by End Users ensuring tickets are being closed within the SLA and quality
  • Raise and monitor 3rd party tickets (Microsoft)
  • Creates automation to support and improve the service governance
  • Knows how to use, read, and interpret Microsoft CoE reports for Power BI
  • Knows how to use, read, and interpret Microsoft Analytic reports for Power BI
  • Creates and maintains PowerShell scripts to support the service
  • Knows how to use the Microsoft Power BI Admin Portal to manage the whole Power BI environment
  • Manages the communities leveraging their usage, defining champions, moderating discussions, sharing tips, tricks, new features, best practices, etc.
  • Participates in Digital Adoption sessions to present/clarify/share Power BI topics
  • Tracks and communicates new Power BI features that are in Microsoft roadmap
  • Joins Microsoft private and public previews related to Power BI
  • Works with Microsoft dedicated support engineers on Power BI topics (tickets, solutions, reports, dashboards, etc.)
  • Creates presentation about Power BI service to be shared with whole Nokia organization

  

Qualifications

  • Extensive (3 years +) Power BI environment management experience
  • Extensive (3 years +) Power BI report and dashboard creation experience
  • Extensive (3 years +) Azure and O365 technology experience
  • Experience with Database (SQL Server), SQL queries, PowerShell scripts, and MS Graph API
  • Experience with Power Apps and Power Automate will be a plus
  • Agile and Continuous Delivery and methodologies, Azure DevOps
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to work in a virtual, global environment, teamwork
