Main responsibility area

The Senior Manager will be a key member of the Technical Accounting & Revenue Recognition team at Nokia which is responsible for creating and maintaining Nokia Accounting Policies. The team ensures consistent application of the policies across the Group through established governance committees, continuous interaction with regional accounting offices and the active delivery of policy training to the organisation. The team is also responsible for the research, analysis and documentation of lFRS accounting positions to address Nokia’s most complex accounting issues. The team is a key contributor to Nokia’s quarterly and year-end closing process and will lead or actively participate in special projects to improve financial reporting at Nokia.

Job description

  • Proactively engage with key partners from the regional accounting offices and business and functional groups to identify and advise on accounting and reporting issues including revenue recognition, M&A transactions, strategic and organizational changes and other accounting matters

  • Support the analysis of the revenue recognition for Nokia’s customer projects together with key regional accounting colleagues and lead and/or participate in monthly accounting governance committees  

  • Provide clear accounting policies and guidelines to the CFO organization and prepare technical IFRS accounting memos and other supporting documentation support Nokia's position in respect of key areas of accounting judgment

  • Prepare and deliver training to the CFO community on an ongoing basis related to important accounting topics, new accounting standards and other regulatory developments

  • Build and develop knowledge and capabilities within the team focusing on three areas:

    • Technical IFRS accounting expertise and Nokia accounting policies

    • Understanding of Nokia's businesses and

    • Knowledge of Nokia's people, processes and systems

  • Work closely with Nokia's consolidation and reporting teams to support the quarterly closing and contribute to the preparation of Nokia's consolidated financial statements including specified footnote disclosures in external publications such as Nokia's Annual Report on Form 20-F as well as quarterly lnterim Reports.

  • Engage with external auditors to facilitate an efficient audit of Nokia's revenue recognition and accounting positions and manage external service providers as necessary.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in accounting, finance or economics

  • Accounting license such as KHT, CPA, ACA

  • 8 - 10 years of experience in lFRS accounting and revenue recognition at a public accounting firm or large multinational company

  • Proven experience in analyzing and interpreting complex accounting transactions

  • Ability to manage ambiguity and push through business challenges

  • Ability to communicate complex topics in an intuitive and effective manner to finance and finance colleagues

  • Hands-on attitude in defining and implementing changes

  • Flexible and eager to learn new things and interested in Nokia’s business

  • Ready for the extra effort, and not cutting corners to produce quality work

  • Willingness to work with people and get them involved in projects

  • Fluent in written and spoken English with Finnish and other language skills seen as an asset

  • Knowledge of the external financial reporting requirements for large global companies

  • Experience working with HFM, SAP and other reporting systems is an advantage but not required.
