Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated IPR professional to join us as IPR Specialist. The position offers exceptional opportunity for hands-on involvement in the wider commercial implications of IPR, thus offering a broader view to utilize your skills than just traditional patent attorney roles. 
 
Your main responsibility area will involve working within the technology area mainly related to current and future cellular technologies, in particular with inventions and patents relevant to LTE and 5G cellular standardization. You will evaluate the business relevance and technical patentability of inventions, advise and support colleagues in related legal issues as well as assist the licensing and litigation function in activities related to cellular standards

Qualifications

You are a fully or partly qualified Patent Attorney or Patent Agent and you should have a solid background either in technology or in patents in the telecoms sector. Alternatively you should have a very strong technical background in cellular communication standardisation and/or research with an understanding of patents. Your expertise with cellular telecommunication standards would be highly appreciated. Of course, you must be excited by the prospect of contributing to a fast-moving and rapidly changing global commercial environment and willing to share your professional knowledge and experience with team members and the wider business community.

You have at least 5 years of experience in the IPR field or at least 8 years in a cellular standards R&D environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree (in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or another closely related technology area relevant to Nokia’s business concerns
  • minimum 4 (M.S., Ph.D) or 6 (B.S.) years of experience at a law firm or technology company in patent prosecution, including with preparing, filing, and prosecuting of patent applications
  • strong technological background and familiarity with cellular communication standards essential technologies such as LTE and 5G
  • extensive experience in drafting patent applications and response to office actions
  • ability to work proactively, multi-task and meet aggressive IP timelines
  • excellent teamwork and written and oral communication skills
  • an aptitude for continuous learning new and complex technology
