Job Position Summary Description:

As part of the Pre-Sales Engineering team, you will be the first point of contact at Nokia, developing technological solutions, in a fast-paced multi-task environment, on projects that matter to our customers.
You will be an integral member of a high performance sales team responsible for meeting quarterly and annual revenue goals in support of Nokia, products and professional services solutions.
You will be acting as a consultant, architect and advisor for our internal teams and as an advocate on behalf of our customers.
Key Responsibilities / Functions:    
  • In partnership with Account Directors and the product business development teams, the sales engineer will assist on the strategic development of the technical component of the customer influence campaign for multiple Tier 1 accounts.
  • To lead the customer technical engagement in the areas of IP routing, Mobile Core, Optical and SDN.  Gaining customer mindshare and helping to propel Nokia’s agenda to getting our products and services inserted into the customer’s network.
  • Translate customer business and technical requirements and drive solution and network design for Nokia’s products.
  • Create tailored customer presentations, demos and lead proof of concept activities showcasing our network portfolio highlighting new features and helping execute on the technical aspects of account strategy.
  • Take a leadership role in the engineering effort required in our customers’ labs to create and execute network designs, network element configurations, equipment certification and test plans.
  • Act as consultant and advisor bringing a customer facing perspective to internal teams
  • Participate in the account overview and technical planning sessions led by the Vice President of the Customer Account and Sales Engineering Segment Leader.
  • Building and maintaining a strong relationship with the customer.  Educating the customer on Nokia products and services.  Gaining mindshare with the customer on Nokia’s implementation of new technologies and architectures.

Required Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related major.
  • 10+ years of experience working in the telecommunication industry. Broad knowledge of telecom/IT industry and competitor trends.
  • 10+ years working with Optical Transport and/or IP/MPLS /Mobile Core/SDN/ Cloud  architectures in a carrier environment.
  • 5+ years working in a customer facing environment (front line sales). Solid understanding of the sales opportunity lifecycle, strategy and execution.
  • Experience working with Network Applications, Network Policy and SDN is highly desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and within a cross-functional team.
  • Must be able to learn, understand and build proficiency with multiple products and/or solutions concurrently.
  • Highly analytical exemplifying creative problem solving skills and entrepreneurial drive
  • Experience working with key decision-makers in service provider or enterprise environments across a variety of domains.
  • Experience managing cross functional teams and leading technical sales campaigns.
  • Customer-facing experience required.
  • Some travel is required.
