The team you'll be part of
Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.
What you will learn and contribute to
As part of our team, you will:

Develop high-quality theoretical and experimental research on platform software for RAN applications in cloud environments

Design and implement novel software programming models, runtime environments and proof-of concept software systems on cloud platforms
-
Drive results of the research projects into intellectual property and product roadmaps
-
Create and maintain strong collaborations with other Nokia organizations and external academic or research institutions
-
Present and publish technical reports, research journals and major conferences
Your skills and experience
You have:
-
Experienced PhD or Recent PhD graduate with a degree in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, telecommunication or equivalent experience level
-
Master’s degree in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, or telecommunication, plus a minimum of 5 years of software writing skills and relevant research related experience
-
Prior experience in any of RAN/5G/SDN/NFV/CNF technologies, e.g. DPDK, SR-IOV, P4, OpenFlow, etc.

Experience in developing multi-threaded, distributed applications
-
Experience with microservice development (K8s, Containers)
-
Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies like Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Run, Anthos or other Hybrid Cloud technologies.
It would be nice if you also had:
-
Experience in embedded software development and hands-on experience with SoC, DSP and GPU programming

Strong understanding of programming in Linux or Windows operating systems, kernels, device drivers and real-time operating systems (RTOS)

Experience working with Telecommunications organizations, developing, and architecting Cloud based systems.

Familiarity with 3GPP standards related to 4G and 5G

Experience with experimental lab setups & high-end test equipment

Strong verbal and written communication in a multi-disciplinary team
