The team you'll be part of

Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.

You will join a team creating the future opto-electronic devices needed for next-generation optical communications. We are working on innovative photonic integration technologies targeting all aspects of optical communications for long-haul, metro, access and intra-datacenter optical networks. You will collaborate with the broader Bell Labs research community as well as with Nokia’s business units creating new communications systems.

 

What you will learn and contribute to

 

The ideal candidate is an expert in aspects of high-speed RF and photonic devices and sub-system integration. You are excited to build a strong research program to create the future photonic integrated technologies for massively parallel communication and computing systems. You are passionate to see your research work become a part of the future communications and computing/AI infrastructure of the world.

 

You are highly motivated and able to carry out creative research programs both individually and in collaboration with other researchers across the global Nokia Bell Labs team. You have experience in some or all of photonic integrated circuits, electronic integrated circuits, free-space optics, RF design and test.

 

 

 

Your skills and experience

 

 

  • PhD in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Strong record of disruptive research in academia and/or industry including scientific/technical publications and/or patents.
  • Ability to define and pursue a research program in synergy with larger team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent lab skills.
