NPI and Network Design Engineer, EMEA region
- (Technical) Pre-Sales, Post-Sales, Engineering and Professional Service support for the IP Routing, NFV and SDN product portfolio in the EMEA region.
- Capture customer requirements, define relevant Use Cases and work out a corresponding list of required features & capabilities, and convert Use Case/Features into Test Cases/Test Plans.
- Validation of Use Case(s) by staging and demonstrating them in Nokia labs and/or customer site(s). You convince the customer technical representatives that Nokia can provide them with the best technical solution.
- Occasionally help problem-solve customer support requests when issue appears to be network design related, working closely with the engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Support in defining and specifying High and Low-Level network design solutions.
- Responsible for solution testing and implementation during pre-sales phase. You prepare and deliver design proposals with support of IP and Solution architects.
- Supporting our customers by developing, reviewing and/or validating scripts, keeping a library of use & reference cases, etc.
- Deliver technical presentations and workshops to our internal and external customers.
- Work with multiple points of contact, mainly (technical) project managers to ensure support requests are solved in a timely manner.
- Report customer requirements to the IP Routing product management teams.
Role / Main challenges:
- Because the role is an integral part of the IP Routing EMEA RBC, the ability to work as part of a distributed team is critical.
- The role will require short international travel, sometimes at short notice.
- A flexible approach to work, especially when communicating with other Nokia groups (sometimes in different time zones), is essential.
- The ability to thrive under pressure and to cope with stressful and chaotic situations.
- Antwerp/Belgium is first choice. Alternatively, anywhere else inside EMEA is also possible.
Mobility:
- Frequent (once a month) inside EMEA region, with medium-short duration (a couple of days to 1 week, max 2 weeks).
- Master in Engineering or 3-5 years of experience in the telecom industry, dealing with IP technologies.
- Knowledgeable on Virtualization, SDN & NFV concepts and related technologies.
- Knowledgeable on E2E Mobile Solutions, Mobile & Packet Core concepts and related technologies.
- Knowledgeable on Network Management Systems, networking concepts and related technologies.
- Hands-on experience including design, build, deploy, trouble-shooting & fault-finding, etc.
- Nokia SRA/Virtuoso, Cisco CCIE, Juniper JNCIE or equivalent Certification are a plus.
- Excellent in designing and deploying networking equipment, SDN and NFV products & technologies
- Detailed understanding of IP/MPLS concepts, related technologies and protocols
- Experienced in configuring and/or designing Network Management Systems in carrier networks
- Proficient in scripting in both networking and virtualized environments
- Strong Linux/Unix shell and datacenter networking knowledge
- Experience with carrier networking protocols (BGP/MPLS/etc), VPNs, QoS, Multicast, Security, etc.
- Experience deploying KVM, VMWare, OpenStack or CloudStack, OpenFlow
- Experience deploying firewalls, load-balancers, storage (NAS, SAN, virtualization)
- Nokia IP Router portfolio - 7x50 XRS/SR/ESS/SRa, 7250 IXR and 7705/7210 portfolio
- Nokia EPC portfolio - SGW, PGW, MME, SGSN and vEPC
- Nokia SDN & NFV portfolio – Nuage, vEPC, VSR, NSP, TelcoCloud, etc.
