General Purpose of the Role/Job Position Summary Description:   

 

Network Functions Manager - Transport (NFM-T) Software Development - Optical Management System

  

Our team is seeking energetic, creative individuals for Software Developer positions in our Optical Management System application. Positions are available for software developers who are motivated, disciplined and user-focused. Optics technology is complex and finding a way to simplify it for our customers is challenging. If you have the skills to collaborate with a large development team, and the coding skills and mindset to translate complex requirements into intuitive, high quality features – we are looking for you.

 

NFM-T centralizes multiple network management and operations functions in one unified platform for the Nokia Optical portfolio. It allows network planning and operations staff to plan, deploy, and manage the network.  The features we create make it easier for our customers to monitor and configure their network and diagnose problems when they occur. Since we already have an existing customer base, we are now adding high value features to interpret the data we store, and use that as an indicator of network status and health.

 

As part of the team, you will be expected to develop and test optical management software features for the NFM-T project. Some features start from requirements, and others are forward looking, outside-the-box opportunities to challenge your creativity and skills. Development areas could be user interface or server, depending on need. There are lots of opportunities for growth, recognition and expanding of your skills. Join us!

 

Key Responsibilities / Functions:   

·       Work with a talented team of developers, systems engineers, testers and usability experts daily

·       Translate requirements or conceptual drawings into feature designs

·       Undergo design and usability reviews of what you create. Lots of constructive criticism from experts in the field so you can grow and learn the domain

·       Develop and optimize feature functionality. Make it work and perform well.

·       Resolve any software issues found during testing of the feature. You break it, you fix it!

 
 Network:

·       You will directly report to an R&D Technical manager in the area of Optical Network Management

·       You will work with peers in multiple locations and time zones and with varying levels of experience

·       Periodic interaction with product management may be required (they tell us what features our customers want)

Required Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)    

·       A degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, IT.

·       Three or more years of work experience in a relevant field (e.g. telecommunications)

·       Strong written and oral communication skills

·       Fluency in English

 

Competence Requirements:

·       Software Development experience (Java)

·       Knowledge of Frameworks like Spring, Hibernate,

·       GUI development skills are recommended (e.g. dojo, REACT, javascript)

·       Exposure to Eclipse or IntellliJ, GIT, Maven/Gradle, Shell, Linux is a plus
