The team you'll be part of

Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.

 

 

What you will learn and contribute to

As a Networks Researcher, you will contribute to research that spans a broad range of networking topics that include:

- Software Defined Networking, Network Function Acceleration

- Infrastructure for Internet of Things, Edge Computing, AR/VR

- Low latency and application-aware networking

- Machine learning applications to networking

 - Network Algorithms and Analytics

- Network Resource Allocation and Performance Optimization 

- Blockchains and their uses in Networking

 - Network Attack Detection and Mitigation, Network Application Fingerprinting, and other areas of Network Security

 

Mission/Purpose of the role

As a Networks Researcher you will work on creating algorithms, architectures, and mechanisms for building future programmable networks and the next generation of automated network systems and software.

Main Responsibility Areas

  • Drive and carry out groundbreaking and innovative research in networking systems and algorithms. 
  • Build and prototype systems to demonstrate research innovations and technology impact
  • Partner with Nokia’s business units to ensure the successful transfer and commercialization of research assets
  • Propose, investigate and publish research in premier conferences and journals worldwide
  • Create and maintain strong collaborative associations with university-based researchers, other leading research organizations  

 

Your skills and experience

- Strong networking research background

- Self-starter/self-motivated individual who thrives within a dynamic environment

- Strategic mindset and creative problem solving

- Technical breadth and depth and eagerness to learn

- Excellent communication and presentation skills

Job Requirements-

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field with deep understanding of IP networking and expertise in related areas such as software defined networking, algorithmic aspects of networking.
  • Strong understanding of network systems and/or applications of Machine Learning, Algorithms to Networking.
  • Experience in building network systems and/or designing network algorithms
    • Combinatorial optimization and network algorithms, use of ML tools or
    • Virtual switches, eBPF, user space networking, programmable networking
