The team you’ll be part of

The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society.  Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.We are currently looking for highly motivated professionals to join our team, who possess a solid understanding of physical architecture and engineering, to shape the future of optical data transmission. As a Hardware designer for HW development and integration you will be part of the hardware development team in Nuremberg, embedded in a worldwide Optical Research and Development organization.

 

What you will learn and contribute to

  • Create hardware specifications
  • Design architecture of electronic cards
  • Draw up schemes of electronic cards
  • Integrate pluggable optical components (b/w, coherent) up to 800 Gb/s on circuit boards, embedded and in close cooperation with the global international teams in other locations
  • Perform qualification measurements and assess test results based on pass/fail criteria derived from Standards.
  • Perform hardware validation in system environment
  • Perform environmental, esd and emc tests
  • Create test plans according to standards and dedicated system requirements
  • Define of measurement set ups to execute planned tests
  • Investigate failed test results to isolate root cause
  • Maintain and enhance test automation environment used for the qualification of optical modules.
  • Follow key supplier´s roadmap
  • Evaluate and select qualified measurement instruments together with measurement equipment vendors
  • Design test SW in LabView and tcl
  • Support Software Development, System Test and Test Engineering
  • Support Investigations of Customer and Field issues
  • Collaborate with teams in international Nokia locations.

 

Your skills and experience

  • Master or Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Expertise in digital and analog electrical design techniques
  • Expertise in high speed signal transmission techniques (GHz range)
  • Expertise in CAD/CAE electrical design and layout engineering tools
  • Expertise in scripting and instrumentation languages (tcl, C++, LabView, …)
  • Expertise in high speed signal probing and post processing instruments (e.g. Oscilloscope, Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer)
  • Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills
  • German & English fluently spoken and written
  • Strong interest in collaboration with international partners
  • Ability to work independently and self-organized
  • High personal flexibility to provide high quality results in challenging environment.
