The team you'll be part of

Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.

Goal: Contribute to and support the Architecture, Technical Scope of Work (SOW) and Solution Description for Customer delivery projects. Assist internal teams from offer commencement through to final solution delivery and acceptance by the customer. Establishment of the agreed contractual System Requirements. Development of an E2E Architecture and Design that meets the specifications, time to market and product/quality constraints. 

What you will learn and contribute to

Pre-sales Phase:

ASSIST Business Development with the following:

·  Development of the NI IP Architecture and Solution Description to be used for offer submission (and integration/dependencies with the E2E solution).

·  Pre-determine a Physical and Logical Solution Architecture; partition and allocate system requirements and functionality to the architecture; analyse and evaluate alternative solutions; define subsystems and system elements and requirements.

·  Identification of Key Technical Risks and Issues, develop mitigation plans

·  Identification of roadmap gates ensuring time to market (for NI IP products and dependencies with non- NI IP and non-Nokia products).

·  Provide key inputs for technical decisions relating to system requirements and system architecture/design.

·  Assists with capturing the customer’s business and technical requirements and works with the Account management and Customer SA’s to develop solutions to meet these.

·  Provides input into the Contract, BoM and Professional Services Estimate.

Project Execution Phase:

·  System/Solution Requirements Development.

·  Identification of key Use Cases; agreement on key acceptance criteria.

·  Derive products and solution requirements in line with the SOW and solution description while being fully coordinated with project management, design and deployment team; perform requirements designation and importance analysis; perform verifiability analysis; perform risk analysis.

·  Development of E2E Solution Architecture and support to High-Level Design (multiple technology domains).

·  Determine a Physical and Logical Solution Architecture; partition and allocate system requirements and functionality to the architecture; analyse and evaluate alternation solutions; define subsystems and system elements and requirements.

·  Perform Use Case Analysis, scenario determination and develop sequence diagrams to support the requirements analysis, architecture & high-level design activities.

·  Review HLD/LLD/Interface Specification

·  Proactively seek to identify and address technical risks. In co-operation with the PM/TPM conduct risk assessments on the project and all suppliers; identifying and executing mitigation strategies to limit impact; support on reporting of risk exposure (cost, schedule, other); escalating, as appropriate.

·  Review roadmap alignment with solution to be implemented with PLM engagement.

·  Technical aspects of Gate & Milestone Execution.

·  Provide key inputs and be accountable for technical decisions relating to system requirements and system architecture/design.

·  Requirements & Design traceability.

·  Maintain traceability between requirement sets (Customer, System, Subsystems and System Elements), maintain traceability to architecture and design documents; support traceability to verification activities.

·  Technical change impact assessment end to end (both internal & 3rd party)

·  The Solution Architect is accountable for the technical accuracy of the design solution (as defined in SA&HLD etc) and the resulting implementation.

·  The Solution Architect assists with technical delivery of the end-to-end project – design implementation to acceptance.

·  Technical support, manage, review 3rd party suppliers and vendors - including:

·        Ensuring that all parties involved in the solution development (SI project team, the customer, 3rd party suppliers, subsystem design teams) clearly understood their technical scope/objectives (through document reviews, workshops, presentations, informal Q&A)

·        Reviewing and assessing the technical progress of all suppliers – including 3rd Parties.  

Key Deliverables:

·  Solution Architecture and Description, Technical Scope of Work.

·  Requirement needs.

·  Inputs for HLD and Project Plan.

·  Risks & Mitigations.

·  Assist with roadmap alignment/gaps escalated to PLM.

·  Develop reference architecture for Services Library if project is first of kind

Your skills and experience

·  Masters in Engineering or 8-10 years of experience in the telecom industry, dealing with IP and Packet Core technologies.

·  Nokia SRA/Virtuoso, Cisco CCIE, Juniper JNCIE or equivalent Certification are a plus.

·  Knowledgeable on Virtualization, SDN & NFV concepts and related technologies.

·  Knowledgeable on E2E Mobile Solutions, Mobile & Packet Core concepts and related technologies.

·  Knowledgeable on scripting and mastering programming languages and techniques.

·  Knowledgeable on Network Management Systems, networking concepts and related technologies.

Experience:

  • Experience on Transport, Energy, Government / Public Sector networks and solutions a bonus - this includes Rail, Air, Power, Mining and PLTE solutions as well as connected Smart Cities

·  Experience in selling and delivering Datacenter/Carrier Network and Solutions

·  Excellent in designing networking equipment for Carrier, SDN and NFV Solutions and Concepts

·  Excellent in designing E2E Mobile Networks, Backhaul and Core Solutions and Concepts

·  Detailed understanding of 3GPP interfaces, IP/MPLS concepts and related technologies

·  Strong Linux/Unix shell and datacenter networking knowledge

·  Hands-on experience including design, build, deploy, trouble-shooting & fault-finding, etc.

Technologies/Products:

·  Nokia IP Router portfolio - 7x50 XRS/SR/ESS/SRa and 7705/7210 portfolio

·  Nokia SDN & NFV portfolio – Nuage, vEPC, VSR, NSP, SSG, etc.

·  VMWare ESXi, vCloud/vCenter, OpenStack, CloudStack, OpenFlow, KVM, Xen, Hyper-V

·  RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu, Java, Python/Perl etc.
