Intern - Video Coding
Nokia Technologies in Tampere, Finland, is looking for research interns to work on new compression technologies for future video coding standards. The positions can be tailored to fit the applicant´s profile with focus on algorithm development of new video coding tools and/or codec software design, implementation and performance evaluation. You will work closely with our research and standardization team defining and implementing state-of-the-art video coding technologies. Authoring publications and deriving patents is an essential part of the work.
The positions are initially for a fixed-term period of up to 9 months with an option for extensions. They provide a nice framework for an MSc thesis or PhD studies.
We are looking for motivated Master or PhD students with experience and studies in digital signal processing preferably in image and video compression/processing technologies. Your toolbox of skills includes software development skills in C or C++ and experience on other programming languages, such as Python is appreciated. Knowledge of current video coding standards (HEVC, VVC, AV1) and algorithms is considered a plus.
