About Mobile Networks

Mobile Networks, which includes mobile network products, network deployment and technical support services, and related network management. This business group will offer the full portfolio for customers wanting to buy mobile access networks. It target leadership in key technologies such as 5G, ORAN and vRAN.

Job Description

We have open position on area of industrial design at Mobile Networks RF (Radio Frequency) Platforms Development unit located in Oulu. The Industrial Design team is part of R&D organization focusing on development of cellular base station radio products.

The team is responsible of innovating the world class, beyond obvious user experience of radio products. It delivers leading edge industrial design aligned by Nokia look and brand and integrates it to products. The team works on user experience aspects and serviceability features (mainly HW but also SW) taking into account the whole cellular site solution – no just radio which typically locates on the mast or on the wall but taking into account end-to-end service design.

For this you

  • Are responsible for concepting and design briefs. This work will be carried out in a close co-operation with mechanical engineers and manufacturability.
    • You define requirements for design with different stakeholders.
    • You develop and iterate product concept through sketches, 3D models, prototypes and renderings​.
    • You examine manufacturing requirements.
    • You evaluate product safety, appearance and function.
    • You participate to implementing design deliverables as part of product program and technology development milestones.
  • Create documentation necessary to convey design strategies and solutions through image / trend boards, sketches, renderings, 3-D models, CAID surface data and written reports. 
  • Build collaboration networks for the observation and the analyses of new product use cases, use environments and trends as well as customer needs.  You take these finding into the practical design.
  • Stay abreast of trends in industrial design aspects relevant on your work area including materials, style, and new methods for user experience like VR/XR etc

  • Hands-on mind-set and problem solving to work on technical constraints with cross functional global teams. Attention to details.
  • Ability to present the ideas in different visualization methods​
  • Understanding of user interaction/experience and how to analyze it
  • Interest in telecommunication systems​
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing technologies
  • A degree in a relevant product/industrial design discipline or equivalent
  • 3+ years of work experience in an industrial design or design engineer role
  • Tools:  3D CAD (Creo / SolidWorks or similar), Adobe creative cloud, Keyshot or other rendering tool, MS office
  • Ability to collect both quantitative and qualitative feedback
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Good communication skills
