Responsibilities

  • Understand the strengths and investment areas of our patent portfolio
  • Develop our Standard Essential Patent (SEP) and implementation patent portfolio together with Patent Portfolio and Technical Analysis teams
  • Understand the IPR landscape and propose actions to improve our competitiveness
  • Automate work in patent portfolio and technical analysis
  • Create future filing strategies based on value propositions
  • Analyse investment and divestment opportunities together with the Patent Transactions and External Alliances team
  • Analyse growth opportunities created by technologies in the industry
  • Identify, design, implement automated, data-driven processes and tools for growth opportunity assessment.
  • Analyse opportunities created by Bell Labs research
  • Propose new incubation projects in patent & technology licensing
  • Advise our Licensing and Sales teams to achieve high value deals
  • Identify opportunities, develop and implement suitable approaches and tools to automate work across key Nokia TECH business processes (e.g. market analysis, opportunity assessment, business reporting)

 

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Computer Science or Physics/Mathematics
  • Recognized data scientist, with proven track record of creating commercial value and excellent academic merits
  • Recognized research leader (e.g. professor) in Computer Science / Physics / Mathematics with proven track record of creating IPR and excellent academic merits
  • Experienced leader with extensive business experience
  • Strong previous experience in analysis of product portfolios, commercial value in business cases of real-world customer problems
  • Technical knowledge of telecommunication systems and standards on both devices and networks sides
  • Broad knowledge of state-of-the art research and business applications in the ICT domain
  • Proven track record of building high-performing teams by hiring experts
  • Proven ability to achieve results by leading teams; drive for results
  • Great skills at building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Innovative and inspiring; able to successfully initiate new ways of doing things
  • Effective communicator; influences decision making of colleagues and partners
  • Strong business judgment, analytical acumen, and communication skills are essential
  • Collaborative, a natural people leader & team player 

Preferred location is Espoo.
