Job Description
Nokia Standards is seeking for an ambitious and top engaged department head for Radio Interface and Access Research Team in Espoo/Finland. The candidate will lead research in the field of 5G-Advanced and 6G, support the design, standardization and development of the related radio interface and access technologies, publish key results, and file patent disclosures.
What you will learn and contribute to
Specifically, your role includes the following responsibilities:

- Radio research in the area of radio interface architecture and protocols, physical layer techniques and RF design challenges, Radio Resource Control and Radio Resource Management aspects
- Leading a high-performance team driving for continuous improvement and world-class radio research execution and innovation
- People management including competence management and development
- Assurance of Standards Research process and quality conformance in the scope of Nokia
- Contribute and participate in customer dialogue on latest wireless technology trends
- Participate to wireless access research strategy creation process
- Ensure active participation in 3GPP for the related research to push Nokia research results into standardization
- Influence the next generation mobile communications and standards
- Contribute with 3GPP contributions within the research area
- Develop leading research in the area of terminal and devices

Requirements:

- Strong system background in 5G is a prerequisite
- Strong leadership background, either with projects or line management
- A background with a master’s degree or equivalent.
- A profound understanding of the area of radio access systems is a prerequisite
- A good understanding of radio product portfolio and wireless business
strategy is required - Experience in 3GPP standardization will be a plus

- 5+ years as research/program/product and/or line manager of larger teams
- Multi -national and distributed environment
- Leading expert organizations in highly complex technology
- Extensive exposure to international interworking culture
- You are proactive and willing to follow and search for latest research results!
- Fluent English skills is a requirement
