Bell Labs, the innovation arm of Nokia, is a global research organization with sites in the US, Europe and Asia. The lab builds on the rich traditions of Bell Labs research including the invention of the transistor, the laser, modern information theory, UNIX and the C/C++ programming language to create outstanding research and innovative technologies for networking, telecommunication and software systems.

As per our overall Nokia strategy, we are expanding the Security Research Department in order to tackle various fundamental and applied security challenges. We are searching for security researchers and fresh PhD graduates with at least two of the following skills to join our team:

Network and SDN security

- Telecommunication security

- Systems and OS security

- Virtualization and Cloud security

- Intrusion Detection & Response

- Attack and threat modeling

- Telecom protocol security

- Security metrics and Models


Role description:

- Identify new and ambitious research challenges, define with other researchers projects to address these challenges, and carry out these projects to completion.

- Publish research results in major scientific venues worldwide, including top conferences and journals.

- Collaborate with other researchers in Bell Labs, and maintain strong relationships with external partners in the research community.

- Partner with Nokia business units to transfer research results into products.

- Generate intellectual property through patenting novel ideas and mechanisms.

- Conduct experimentations, produce prototypes and proof-of-concepts.

- Mentor interns.

Qualifications:

- Candidates must hold a PhD (or final year) in information security, computer science, computer engineering, or related field (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, and Telecommunications).

- A proven track record of research publications in major international conferences and/or top notch journals is required.

- Candidates are expected to have the ability to conduct independent research while also contributing to team-oriented projects that often span across multiple Bell Labs sites.

- Strong written and verbal communications skills in English are a must.
