Come create the technology that helps the world act together

Nokia is committed to innovation and technology leadership across mobile, fixed and cloud networks. Your career here will have a positive impact on people’s lives and will help us build the capabilities needed for a more productive, sustainable, and inclusive world.

We challenge ourselves to create an inclusive way of working where we are open to new ideas, empowered to take risks and fearless to bring our authentic selves to work.

The team you'll be part of

Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.

You will be joining a team of scientists and research engineers who are exploring exciting new ideas around scalable and robust software systems for cyber-physical systems, focusing on industrial and enterprise automation. In the past few years we have built a multi-robot orchestration platform, which has been the cornerstone of two major commercial proof-of-concept deployments of robotic and drone-based solutions for factories and warehouses. We are now expanding these activities with exciting new projects, continuing our adventure with new solutions, new industrial use-cases and new business opportunities.

What you will learn and contribute to

We are looking for passionate researcher engineers who love building things that have never been built before. In this job, you will:

  • Participate in exciting applied-research and research-engineering activities around software systems for enterprises and industrials
  • Construct proof-of-concept systems, ready for productization through incubation, spin-off or business partnerships
  • Collaborate with world-class researchers and research-engineers across the lab, and across Bell Labs

Your skills and experience

You should have at least:

  • 2 years of hands-on experience in software development (e.g. in Go, Python, C/C++, Rust) in an advanced-technology or applied-research environment
  • Great understanding and experience in constructing complex software systems
  • An MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar fields
  • An open mind and eagerness to contribute to novel solutions, with a clear focus on industrial impact
  • Excellent communication skills and a team spirit

It would be nice if you also had:

  • A PhD, or equivalent research experience, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar fields
  • Experience in robotics, IoT, or other cyber-physical systems
  • Experience in applied research in an industrial environment
  • Experience with modern cloud environments, e.g. K8S, AWS
  • Expertise in one or more of: Robotics, Applied ML, Crypto networks, Web 3.0
  • Experience translating novel research results to product
