Bell Labs Consulting is Nokia Bell Labs’ next-generation technology advisory arm. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that uses technology expertise, bold technology theses, ‘future-back’ foresight and deep, impartial analyses to help the C-Suite of our communication service provider and enterprise customers create new value through the application of new technologies. We reach back into the research arm of Bell Labs for leading edge thinking and deep technical expertise that gives us a unique capability in the market.
What you will learn and contribute to
Are you a passionate about defining new strategies and business models that help world’s communication service providers and enterprises create new and lasting value?
The Bell Labs ICT Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME) will develop thought-leadership and architectural work in this area through research, modeling, analysis and key interactions with other organizations and customers to support the delivery of solutions for Service Providers and other industry players.
In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic advice on Cloud/ICT strategy, architecture, convergence and transformation to clients through consultative engagements for supporting their strategic planning efforts and meet business objectives.
- Develop economic and technical models to quantify the cost and agility impact of cloud/ICT on networks and operations
- Assess and define strategic technology evolution of orchestration and automation platforms and migration strategies from current networks to future orchestration and automation platforms
- Assess and develop Multi-cloud strategy and orchestration of containerized cloud-native solutions spanning webscale providers, ETSI VNFs, 3GPP solutions etc.
- Model and analyze impact of edge cloud strategy and the architectural choices to make
- Develop intra DC architecture to host private clouds and orchestrate with other private and public clouds
- Evaluation and analysis of various technical and architectural trade-offs with opensource, industry and vendor initiatives
- Monitor emerging Cloud/ICT trends – specifically relating to public/private clouds – with emphasis on strategic relationships, architecture and standards development
- Generate whitepapers, case studies and other thought leadership collateral
- Build customer and competitive intelligence in the Cloud/ICT space
- International travel may be required in this role, as well as flexibility to work across global time zones.
You have:
- MS or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics; or BS in Engineering with MBA
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the ICT industry, with at least 3 years in emerging technology domains
- In-depth knowledge of ICT cloud technologies
- Architectural underpinnings of ICT cloud, hybrid multi-cloud, emerging technology trends
- Cloud-native architectures and underpinnings of using containers, micro-services, Kubernetes orchestration etc. Good understanding of capabilities of public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure or GCP to support cloud-native workloads
- Deep understanding of orchestration and automation platforms and solutions for multi-cloud deployment
- Ability to conduct detailed discussions with technical personnel in customer organizations and Nokia product groups and sales teams
- Strong working knowledge of telecom/ICT networks and services with
- Expertise in at least one additional telecom network domain
- Good understanding of ICT cloud technologies and transformation and associated complexities
- Familiarity with Analytics and IoT innovations and their impact on telecom network and operations
- Strong business, market and technology research skills
- Creative and innovative thinking
- Fast learning of new concepts, technologies and business value propositions
- Strong self-motivation to explore new technologies and new business models
- Strong skills in mathematical analysis, collecting and analyzing data, and spreadsheet model-building
- Good consulting competencies with personable consultative style
- Ability to draw and communicate insights to advise customers' technical and business leaders effectively
- Capable of working autonomously and productively in a fast-paced, dynamic, cross-disciplinary team environment
- Aptitude and ability to support business development initiatives
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
It would be nice if you also had:
- Good knowledge of E2E mobile and fixed networks, CSP business strategies and insights related to this domain, security architectures
- Understanding financial statements, (Cash Flow, Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet)
- Knowledge of / experience in the industrial enterprise market
